Carly Scaffer

Primary Therapist

Carly grew up in Northeast Philadelphia and the South Jersey area and serves as a Primary Therapist at Legacy Healing Center in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Carly earned her Bachelor’s degree from Rowan University, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2018, and continued her education achieving her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Rutgers University, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2022. In her master’s program, Carly specialized in co-occurring addiction and mental health and is currently a Licensed Social Worker.

Carly’s passion for social work stems from her personal and family experiences with both addiction and mental health disorders. She uses various therapeutic modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing, with a person-centered approach and solution-focused techniques. Carly emphasizes the importance of cultural competence, inclusivity, harm reduction, and trauma-informed care. She has experience working with a wide variety of individuals including children, adolescents, adults, and families as well as members of the LGBTQIA+ community, diverse cultural groups, and various socioeconomic backgrounds; working with marginalized populations who have experienced poverty, incarceration, homelessness, discrimination, violence, and trauma. She is passionate about the work that she does and is dedicated to educating, empowering, and advocating for the individuals she serves.
