Opioid Rehab For Brooklyn, NY Residents
Opioid Epidemic
When you think of the word epidemic, what is the first thing that comes to mind? For many people, they immediately think of the opioid epidemic that first began in the United States in the late 1990s. During this time, pharmaceutical companies told the medical community that the likelihood of a patient developing an addiction to opioids was extremely low. Therefore, the medical community began to prescribe opioids to patients at an increased rate. The result was an explosion of patients developing an opioid addiction.

History of Opioid Addiction
Many people don’t realize that opioids have been in existence in some way, shape, or form for hundreds of years. In fact, it wasn’t uncommon to smoke opium recreationally at gatherings in the 1700s. During the Civil War, field doctors used the drug to provide comfort to their patients who were injured on the battlefield. Sadly, these soldiers went home with battle scars and confusion about why they were still craving the drug that was given to them.

How to Detox From Opioids?
First and foremost, you must never try to go through the detox process unless you are under the care of a staff of trained medical professionals since the withdrawal symptoms you will likely feel may render you unable to take care of yourself. Withdrawal symptoms typically set in within a few hours from the last time you consumed an opioid. Many clients complain that they feel as though they have a terrible case of the flu. However, your symptoms could become so severe that they could be potentially life-threatening, which is why detox is never something you should attempt on your own.
What Opioid Rehab Is Like?
Your experience when you come to Legacy Healing in South Florida will depend on your treatment plan. For example, clients who decide to work through our inpatient program will live on campus with us during their plan, while clients that are better suited for our outpatient program will come to our facility at set days and times throughout the week for treatment. Regardless of your program, you will participate in various counseling that will help you address your addiction and aid you in developing a plan that will help you remain sober once you return home.
Behavioral therapy, individual counseling, group therapy, and family therapy are examples of counseling you will experience when you come to Legacy Healing. Keep in mind that when you first reach out to one of our recovery specialists, they can provide you with more information about the type of therapy you will experience.
How Long Does Rehab Last?
It’s important to remember that addiction is not something that develops in the blink of an eye or overnight. Therefore, it will take longer than just a day or two to overcome your addiction. This is one reason why we give our clients that opportunity to enroll in a 30, 60, or 90-day treatment plan. Keep in mind that our team is always available to speak to you about the benefits of enrolling in different plan durations, which is why we recommend you talk to us first before you finalize your plans.
Do Luxury Rehabs Have On-Site Chefs?
Keeping your body fueled and hydrated is one of our main focuses at Legacy—this why we have on-site chefs that make wonderful meals and snacks for you throughout the day. If you have any food allergies, we recommend letting us know when you first reach out to us. This way, we can ensure that you have access to nothing less than the best food options for you.
