With the success of faith-focused fellowships such as the Alcoholics Anonymous program for alcoholism and the adapted Narcotics Anonymous, it is understood that there is a great benefit to incorporating religious faith into a clinical therapy program. At our faith-based drug rehab in South Florida, we provide the means for you to not only heal from addiction through a relationship with God, but we also provide the best in evidence-based treatments that complement the faith-focused approach to healing from addiction.
A religious person with an addiction has different needs from other people in recovery. This is often due to the negative feelings that a person has as an addict, feeling that they let down God and their faith by becoming abusing drugs or alcohol. These feelings can be overwhelming and require a different approach to resolve.
Through Legacy Healing Center’s faith-based drug rehab, you can renew and strengthen your relationship with God, and allow him to be a guide during this trying time, ultimately becoming better for the experience.
Christian rehab programs for addiction are based on the idea that drug and alcohol abuse happens because the person is trying to fill the void that only God’s love can fill. It is believed that through renewing the relationship that a person with a substance abuse problem has with God or another Higher Power, that it can bring about the positive change that they need to quit substance abuse for good.
The effectiveness of our faith-based drug rehab is achieved by combining religious beliefs and practices with proven methods of treating an addiction. In essence, a person in our faith-based drug rehab gains the benefit of having evidence-based behavioral therapies and holistic healing with the positive effects that a relationship with God can give.
Spirituality becomes an important part of the recovery process, and it helps to form bonds with other people in the treatment program that share common beliefs. These relationships often carry on long after the rehab program is concluded, and can provide the type of support that one needs in their long-term recovery from drug or alcohol addiction.
Legacy really changed my life for the better. I was down and out, my life in shambles and didn’t know what to do. Legacy showed me there was a light at the end of the tunnel and gave me the tools to get there. The staff at this facility are genuine and truly care and it shows.
Kaleb was well on his way to being another death sta-tistic victim to Heroin addiction. God led us to Legacy Healing Center. They treated him with love and respect. Showing true concern and patience. Kaleb is a life saved. He is thriving and making positive life choices. His potential is unlimited!
Words cannot describe my experience with Legacy, but I will try. This place has, and continues to change my life. From the start at detox, the staff was very welcoming and caring while I was in a very dark place physically and emotionally. This treatment continued at the PHP and IOP levels. I have been to 5 other treatments facilities, but have never experienced the care and compassion I received at Legacy. Of course the staff is caring, but they are GENUINELY invested in their clients recovery.
Wonderful staff, the treatment program was excellent. They really treat you like family here and genuinely care about you. The 4 months I’ve spent here have been great, I’ve learned a lot about myself and ways to cope with my struggles.
I’ve been to a few treatment centers and this one is by far the best from the living quarters to the clinical and therapeutic experience. 5/5 would recommend. They continue to reach out and stay in contact.
Legacy Healing Center saved my life. The entire staff focuses on every individual as a separate case. No one is left behind. I wouldn’t be here without the staff at Legacy.
Honestly, it’s not what you imagine when thinking “detox.” Legacy made my experience so comfortable from beds, food, staff and such a clean facility. Besides all that they literally gave me life back. Forever thankful.
The difference between a faith-focused approach to addiction treatment and a non-spiritual approach to addiction treatment lies in the emphasis that is put onto the healing power of faith. In a standard rehab program, a person’s time will be spent doing healthy exercises, participating in therapeutic activities such as art therapy, and working through the core problems that caused their addiction in behavioral therapy among other things.
In a faith-focus addiction treatment program, a person will participate in all of the same treatment programs that are proven to be highly effective at treating addiction, but they will also do things to help bring them closer to God and His love as a way to improve healing and motivation for long-term recovery.
In our faith-based drug rehab, a patient can expect to take part in spiritual counseling in both a group and one-on-one format to help guide each person through the struggles of their addiction, and strengthen their faith.
A starting point for programs such as NA and AA is that the person must accept that they are powerless to beat the addiction by themselves, and it is only through accepting the help of God or a Higher Power that one can begin to heal from the problems that addiction causes. This idea is something that is explored in our faith-based drug rehab and ultimately helps to guide a person closer to God and the power to heal through His love.
Another difference between a standard rehab program and our faith-based drug rehab is that once intensive treatment is concluded at rehab, the recovering addict will have access to various therapeutic communities that focus their efforts of faith and God as a way to maintain their sobriety and mental well-being in the months and years to come.
The bible can be the source of great information and insights into drug and alcohol addiction. Several bible verses refer to the negative effects of things like addiction and how through God you are able to break free from the evils. Some of the interesting verses in the bible that are pertinent to recovery from addiction include the verses below.
In 1 Peter 5:10, the bible talks about how after you have suffered (from addiction), that God – who calls you to the eternal glory in Christ – will restore and strengthen you, and help you to be established again.
In James 4:7, the bible talks about how one must submit themselves to God, and resist the devil. Upon doing so, you will be freed from the devil’s influence. This is much like the initial acceptance that it is only through God that one will be healed from the throes of addiction.
In Psalm 50:15, the bible speaks about how you can call upon Him when you find yourself in your day of trouble, and then He will deliver you, and you shall then glorify Him.
