Faith plays an essential role in the recovery of many substance abusers. Finding a Higher Power that you can trust in and turn to when you need additional strength during your time in recovery can help you navigate through the difficult moments.
Legacy Healing Center in Fort Lauderdale, FL provides you with the support and affirmation to walk confidently down the road of sobriety knowing that you have a relationship with God. Our team is here to help you develop your spiritual relationship with your Higher Power while supplying you with the guidance you need to leave the influence of drugs in your past.
One of the best ways you can explore your faith during your time in rehab is through one on one therapy options. Part of your rehab experience entails regular meetings with one of our trained counselors to discuss a variety of aspects of your treatment including the root cause of your addiction as well as your growing faith. These meetings are an excellent opportunity to discuss where you are in your recovery plan and to assess whether any changes should be made.
Another way that our patients work to develop their faith in unison with their recovery is through taking part in group therapy. Many of our group recovery groups focus around working through the 12 Steps of recovery. This helps you focus not only on overcoming your addiction but building your relationship with your Higher Power.
We realize that addiction can not only affect you but your loved ones which is why we also offer a Family Program. This program provides your family with the opportunity to take part in therapy sessions as well as receiving education related to addiction and how they can assist you in your road to recovery.

Wonderful staff, the treatment program was excellent. They really treat you like family here and genuinely care about you. The 4 months I’ve spent here have been great, I’ve learned a lot about myself and ways to cope with my struggles.
I’ve been to a few treatment centers and this one is by far the best from the living quarters to the clinical and therapeutic experience. 5/5 would recommend. They continue to reach out and stay in contact.
Legacy Healing Center saved my life. The entire staff focuses on every individual as a separate case. No one is left behind. I wouldn’t be here without the staff at Legacy.
Honestly, it’s not what you imagine when thinking “detox.” Legacy made my experience so comfortable from beds, food, staff and such a clean facility. Besides all that they literally gave me life back. Forever thankful.
The Bible is the cornerstone of Christianity. The pages of the Bible are filled with a mix of caution, wisdom, and encouragement. Many people who struggle with addiction may be surprised to learn that in many passages, the Bible also speaks about addiction.
1 Corinthians is a book in the New Testament of the Bible that speaks extensively about temptation which can lead to addiction. For example, 1 Corinthians 15:33 warns “Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”. Your time at rehab will reinforce this sage advice. When you spend time with people that have a bad influence on your life or those that enable your addiction, your character can be called into question. When you change the people you surround yourself with, the places you go and the things that you do and develop healthy habits, you are sure to notice a change in your life.
During your recovery, you can also look to the Bible for words of affirmation that God is with you every step of the way. 1 Corinthians 10:13 states, “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way so that you can endure it”. In short, God will never give you more than you can handle and He will always provide you with the support you need to make it through the dark times of addiction if you are open to it.
James 5:15-16 reinforces the idea that prayer should be a pivotal role in your recovery. The verse states, “And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven”. It supports the idea that by incorporating prayer into your addiction journey, you will develop a closer relationship with God. During your stay in rehab, you will have time numerous times throughout the day to sit, meditate and pray.
It’s important not to overlook the benefit of learning how to enjoy sober friendly activities outside of our facility. Here are some of our suggestions for our favorite family-friendly Fort Lauderdale attractions.
If you love history, you should not miss out on visiting the Bonnet House Museum & Gardens. The house was originally constructed in 1920 by Frederic and Helen Bartlett. The couple was based in the north and the house was meant to be a haven for them during the winter months. Although Helen Bartlett passed away shortly after the house was built in 1925, Frederic went on to remarry and the house was used by the family until 1995. Today, you can take a step back in history when you visit the house and the surrounding lush gardens. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 9 AM to 4 PM with the option for guided tours.
The Bonnet House Museum & Gardens is located at 900 N. Birch Road.
Are you an animal and plant lover? If so, you should consider a visit to the Flamingo Gardens. The Flamingo Gardens is located approximately 17 miles west of downtown Fort Lauderdale and is home to a diverse variety of wildlife as well as over 3,000 plant species. Be sure to keep an eye out for the peacocks that wander freely around the property. Another advantage of visiting this location is that you can also take part in a tour of the Wray Home which is considered one of the oldest homes in Broward County. It’s advisable that you plan to spend at least two hours to receive the full effect of Flamingo Gardens.
You can visit Flamingo Gardens at 3750 S Flamingo Road.
