What Do You Do During Rehab?

Rehabilitation programs at Legacy Healing Centers are here to help individuals suffering from substance abuse disorders receive holistic, effective treatment. The principals of effective treatment can include behavioral therapy, improving coping skills, treating co-occurring mental disorders as well as looking at other areas of a patient’s life that may need help. If you or a loved one is suffering from an addiction but you are unsure what rehab will be like for the person in need, continue reading to learn more about what life in a rehabilitation program is like.

No two rehabilitation program experiences will be exactly the same. When an individual makes the decision to get the help they need they will meet with a case manager and be evaluated to understand the addiction and the help needed. Each individual in a treatment program at Legacy Healing Center is given a personalized treatment program to fit their unique needs. At the beginning of the treatment program, patients will need to undergo medical detox, to rid their body of the substances and also undergo various behavioral therapies that are designed to help those struggling with substance abuse overcome addiction.

As motioned above, one of the first things a new patient will undergo is medical detox. This is one of the more difficult, yet important steps in recovery. It is difficult because withdrawal symptoms will be felt, and the severity of the symptoms will depend on the individual and their dependence on substances. In order to ease these symptoms, the detox process will be monitored and individuals may be administered medications to help reduce and ease the withdrawal symptoms, ultimately leading to an easier, safer detox.

Once the individual has rid their body of the substance, they can then begin behavioral therapy, which is yet another incredibly important step in recovery. This is the step in which causes for the addiction are addressed and ways to create changes are found. Licensed, and experienced therapists will work with patients using different models of therapeutic therapy which can include cognitive behavioral therapy, process therapy, psychodynamic therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivation enhancement therapy, and solution-focused therapy.

Legacy Healing Center prides themselves on their holistic approach to treatment allowing patients to look at the areas of their lives that can be improved to enhance recovery. The different programs offered at Legacy, such as wellness and career services, can further help recovery and long-term sobriety.

What Does The Average Day Look Like While In Rehab?

While in a residential rehab program at Legacy Healing Center, individuals will be expected to live at one of the rehab centers in South Florida for the duration of the program. The length of the program will vary from person to person but could be anywhere from 30 – 90 days. A typical day will follow this routine:

 – Wake up in your private or shared room

 – Get prepared for the day by getting dressed and washed up

 – Have breakfast (all meals are prepared by in-house chefs with quality ingredients)

 – Participate in therapies and holistic healing programs depending on your treatment plan

 – Lunch will be served between healing programs

 – After programs have ceased, dinner will be served

 – Return to your room after dinner

What Type Of Therapy Happens At Rehab?

While in a treatment program at Fort Myers Legacy Healing Center, there will be a lot of time spent on behavioral therapy and it can come in three forms, group therapy, family therapy, and one-on-one therapy.

Group Therapy

Group therapy can offer various benefits for patients such as learning from others, sharing insight, and gain an understanding of what and how others are feeling.  Group therapy is a place to share, and sharing is important because a patient’s recovery can be strengthened through the shared goal of long-term recovery. Group therapy is also a great place for individuals to receive support

One-on-One Therapy

One on one therapy is just as it sounds, it is individual therapy with the patient and the doctor. It is private and therapeutic, giving individuals a space where more sensitive parts of one’s life can be explored.

Family Therapy

Family therapy at Legacy Healing Center focuses on healing the family together. This is a unique program, that is not often found in other treatment centers. When someone suffers from an addiction, the family is often badly hurt and while the individual struggling with substance abuse is receiving the treatment they need, the family and individual can work together in therapy to mend the wounds.
