How long does rehab take?

If you are caught up in a substance abuse habit, and believe that you may be addicted, it’s important that you find rehab right away. Quitting addiction isn’t simply about ending drug use. Detoxification, the initial step to attempting sobriety, may be successful if attempted at home; staying sober over the long-term is another matter, altogether, however. Addiction is a brain disorder, and achieving sobriety requires well-structured psychological therapy over a period of weeks or months. Legacy Healing Center at Coco Beach has trained professionals who are able to offer such expert inpatient drug rehab to give you your best shot possible at sobriety.

30-day rehab

Inpatient drug rehab tends to offer the same kinds of treatment plans as outpatient drug rehab. Either type of program tends to run the same period of time. Inpatient rehab, however, has you living at the rehab facility, where you’re completely cut off from all temptation to use drugs or alcohol. You have access to emotional and psychological support with trained addiction professionals and psychologists through much of the day, each day, and your days are spent in intensive therapy to help you do one thing: understand how drugs work on your brain, and how to escape their draw.

Thirty-day rehab plans are well-suited to mild addictions. If you’ve been addicted to substance abuse only a few months, only use small quantities of one drug, do not suffer from co-occurring mental disorders such as depression or anxiety, and are motivated to get better, 30-day rehab could work well for you. Once you complete medical detoxification in a week and no longer regularly crave the substance that you’re addicted to, you have three weeks left to learn the psychological skills that you need to stay sober over the long term.

60-day rehab

Legacy Healing Center conducts thorough assessments of each patient who comes in, to determine what kind of rehab duration is best likely to work for them. When a patient’s history of substance abuse is somewhat deeper than can be resolved with 30-day rehab, the addiction specialists at the center may recommend a 60-day rehab plan. The additional four weeks that this plan gives the patient in inpatient rehab allows them longer access to sessions of individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy, where they learn how to combat the psychological influences of addiction. Sixty-day rehab is more thorough than 30-day rehab and offers better outcomes for long-term sobriety, post-rehab. Along with 30-day rehab plans, 60-day rehab plans tend to be the ones most commonly paid for by health insurance plans.

90-day, long-term rehab

Long-term inpatient rehab programs that last 90 days tend to have the best outcomes among the rehab durations offered. They tend to work best for those whose addictions come with complications. If you’ve used addictive substances for a long time, used multiple substances in combination, are in poor health as a result of your substance abuse, have unsuccessfully attempted to quit addiction before and relapsed, or suffer from depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or schizophrenia, the addiction experts in charge of your rehabilitation are likely to determine that a shorter-term rehab program is unlikely to be sufficient.

A long-term inpatient program tends to offer detox at a more relaxed pace to help patients cope, in their weakened state, with the physical demands of the course. Following detox, once patients no longer crave a high on a daily basis, they are placed in long-term therapeutic programs. While the individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy offered to follow the same basic plans as in the shorter rehab programs, they take longer to delve deeper and allow participants greater periods of time to learn how addiction works, and how they can sidestep the landmines of relapse. Certainly, 90-day rehab ends up costing more than shorter terms. The results, however, can be worth the added expense and effort.

Sober-friendly attractions near Cocoa Beach

Cocoa Beach isn’t about skyscrapers or big-city attractions. Instead, most places of interest around town offer natural pleasures – beautiful beaches, colorful sunsets, and friendly animals. There is, of course, the one man-made wonder that is the Kennedy Space Center. Just south of Cocoa Beach, on a barrier island, is the space center that sent astronauts off to orbit, and to land on the moon. The center offers visitors an exciting range of experiences that show you what space travel is all about. If you love space exploration, the Star Theater planetarium at Eastern Florida State College puts on a great show about the wonders of space, as well.

Historic Cocoa Village, the heart of town, has been inhabited for about two centuries now, and retains a good deal of its historic appeal. The little, tree-lined streets, colorful buildings, and local shops and restaurants are an easy way to spend a couple of hours.

Brevard Zoo is a fun place to visit to get up close to animals from around the world, and you can have fun kayaking and zipline over natural vistas, as well. You can even go swim with the manatees on a Cocoa Beach kayaking tour, or go on an exciting fishing charter if you have the time.

Legacy Healing Center in South Florida offers expert, compassionate, nonjudgmental rehab that is completely based on the latest in addiction medicine.
