How to Plan an Amazing Alcohol and Drug-Free Night Out... Read More
When you struggle with addiction, relationships with the people around you are often thrown by the wayside. You will likely have experienced a distancing between friends and family you love. You may even begin to notice that your professional relationships are beginning to falter. Another relationship that is often neglected is the one that you have with God. Many people who suffer from addiction have the common misconception that, as a result of their addiction, God no longer looks upon them with love. The reality is that this couldn’t be further from the truth.
Legacy Healing Center’s team is here to provide you with the added support you need to not only overcome your addiction but develop a better and more meaningful relationship with God. We are available to discuss every aspect of your faith and recovery to ensure that you grow and develop spiritually during your time at our facility.
Faith-based rehabs are different in that our counselors work with you not only to build a life of sobriety but to develop a deeper relationship with God. When you attend our faith-based rehab you can expect a combination of learning about the science behind your addiction while reinforcing your own spiritual growth. Part of the way that you discover more about these two important components is by participating in various forms of therapy.
Our team understands that addiction tends to not only affect the person struggling with the addiction but with friends and family as well. If you feel as though your addiction has adversely affected your relationship with these special people or you are concerned about speaking to them about your spirituality, our counselors can organize a family therapy session so that you can speak with them in a neutral setting with the help of behavioral health professionals.
You will also participate in both group and individual therapy. Group therapy gives you the chance to interact and communicate with other people who suffer from addiction. During these sessions, you will listen to stories from fellow rehab attendees about their experiences with their spirituality and addiction.
One on one therapy gives you the chance to speak individually with one of our counselors about your journey with addiction. Also, if you want to change or adjust your treatment plan, individual therapy gives you the opportunity to discuss this with a member of our professional team.
Absolutely beautiful! Staff is so caring and welcoming. Highly recommend to anyone who is struggling and looking to heal. This is the place for you!
Legacy really changed my life for the better. I was down and out, my life in shambles and didn’t know what to do. Legacy showed me there was a light at the end of the tunnel and gave me the tools to get there. The staff at this facility are genuine and truly care and it shows.
Kaleb was well on his way to being another death sta-tistic victim to Heroin addiction. God led us to Legacy Healing Center. They treated him with love and respect. Showing true concern and patience. Kaleb is a life saved. He is thriving and making positive life choices. His potential is unlimited!
Wonderful staff, the treatment program was excellent. They really treat you like family here and genuinely care about you. The 4 months I’ve spent here have been great, I’ve learned a lot about myself and ways to cope with my struggles.
I’ve been to a few treatment centers and this one is by far the best from the living quarters to the clinical and therapeutic experience. 5/5 would recommend. They continue to reach out and stay in contact.
Legacy Healing Center saved my life. The entire staff focuses on every individual as a separate case. No one is left behind. I wouldn’t be here without the staff at Legacy.
Honestly, it’s not what you imagine when thinking “detox.” Legacy made my experience so comfortable from beds, food, staff and such a clean facility. Besides all that they literally gave me life back. Forever thankful.
Different forms of addiction have been in existence since the beginning of time. The understanding of addiction has grown and developed since the time the Old and New Testaments. Still, God, the prophets and apostles had their own thoughts about addiction. The authors of the Bible realized that they needed to caution their readers and followers against addiction. Matthew 26:41 says, “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak”.
This quote is very telling because it demonstrates that God realizes the struggle that inherently exists in addiction. He understands that although your spirit and faith may be strong, the flesh sometimes falls into temptation. The quote cautions that one should continue to pray for the strength to overcome addiction so that you can have a closer and more beneficial relationship with God.
It’s important to remember that no matter what mistakes or temptation we may fall into, God is still always there to give us strength and support. He has his arms open to us when we are ready to come back to his loving embrace. James 1:12-15 states, “Blessed [is] the man that endures temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.” God promises his followers that as long as they remain steadfast in their beliefs, they will always have a special place with Him.
Once you have completed your treatment with Legacy and are ready to return home to Tallahassee it’s vitally important that you reinforce and maintain all the new healthy habits and coping skills you’ve learned. Often this requires finding new things to do that don’t involve drugs and alcohol. Fortunately, Tallahassee has plenty of sober friendly attractions you can participate in.
St. Marks Lighthouse
There are many beautiful places to visit in Tallahassee. St. Marks Lighthouse is a primary example. The lighthouse gives you the chance to enjoy the great outdoors and reflect on the beauty that God has created. Over the past few years, this 80-foot tower has become a leading choice for wedding venues so you may want to check ahead to ensure that the lighthouse is not closed off for a private party. Usually, it is open seven days a week.
Knott House Museum
Knott House Museum was originally built in 1843 by George Proctor. The home survived the turmoil of the Civil War and in 1883, the property was bought by Dr. George Betton and became part of his practice. The Knott family purchased the home in 1928 and it quickly flourished as a living monument to Florida and Tallahassee history. The house official became a part of the Museum of Florida History in 1997.
