Sober Friendly Businesses and Things to Do Orlando

What Is There to Do in Orlando That Doesn’t Involve Alcohol or Drugs?

When you are in the throes of addiction, it’s often easy to forget that there are other aspects of life that you can take part in.  Although you were once consumed with the next time you could go to the liquor store or purchase your drug of choice when you become sober, you suddenly find that you have the time to explore and discover other things that you enjoy.

Many people are unaware of the abundance of sober friendly attractions in the Orlando area. The reality is that there are countless places that you can visit when you are looking for something to do outside of rehab or meetings. The following businesses and outdoor locations are some of our favorite sober friendly spots around town.

Float therapy is an experience of sensory deprivation, weightlessness, and total peace and quiet.  You float in silence and darkness in a small private pool filled with saltwater.  The average float therapy session lasts from 30 minutes to an hour. This form of therapy has been known to alleviate pain from headaches and reduce stress which makes it an ideal activity for someone that is recovering from addiction.

Dubsdread Golf Course Golfing with a sober companion can be a fun day-long activity that not only provides you with exercise but a great way to socialize. It’s important to plan ahead when you are thinking about going on a golf outing. The majority of golf courses in the Orlando area have the option to purchase alcoholic beverages. If you are just starting out in your recovery, it may be difficult to go to a golf course and not feel the urge to drink.

But just because you’re in recovery doesn’t mean you have to exclude yourself from taking part in golf. We recommend that you invite someone to go golfing with you who is aware of your struggles with addiction. He or she will be able to provide you with company that reinforces your sobriety goals.
