Meet the Therapists

Trauma Therapy at Legacy Healing Center

Our dedicated trauma treatment team at Legacy Healing Center provides every patient with the highest level of care necessary for the best possible outcome. Our main goal is to provide you with a thoroughly positive and enlightening experience that will enable you to retake control of your life for the long term as you learn how trauma can be the link that has led you to abuse substances as well as how addiction can be the cause of trauma.

We take a holistic approach to restoring your health, using evidence-based trauma therapy and practices to treat your mind, body and spirit. Exposure to extremely stressful events can lead someone to seek out drugs or alcohol in an attempt to self-medicate. On the other hand, if an individual already suffers from a substance use disorder, that disease can increase the chances for experiencing traumatic encounters because addiction and risky behaviors frequently coincide.

The trauma-informed care providers at Legacy Healing Center work together with you to forge trusting relationships. When healing from trauma and addiction, discovering the underlying causes of addiction is often the key to recovery, and one hidden component of substance use disorder often stems from trauma. We utilize various therapeutic treatments for dual diagnosis, including cognitive behavioral therapy, individual therapy, hypnotherapy, group therapy and trauma-informed care.

What Makes Legacy Different

Legacy Healing Center is both an addiction treatment center and behavioral health provider. We take a holistic, person-centered approach to care that builds hope, self-esteem and success in recovery for the future through our evidence-based therapies, highly trained clinicians and safe, relaxing environment.

We offer individualized treatment plans that are suited to your personal needs for healing. Our physicians, nurses, psychotherapists and counselors are all board-certified and well educated in the field of addiction and recovery. With continuous monitoring, aftercare programs and specialized treatment for trauma care, we are available to help you reach your recovery goals from a variety of perspectives.

Legacy Healing Center stands out from most other addiction facilities that typically have a trauma therapist who specializes in just one type of trauma therapy modality. Our Center’s primary trauma therapist, Lina Pepper, believes that it takes more than one therapeutic tool to help her clients heal. Every person either responds positively or negatively to various types of trauma therapy. Lina is trained in various modalities, including Rapid Resolution Therapy, Traumatic Incident Reduction, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and many others. She will utilize different types of trauma therapy on each patient until she hits on the treatment that will work best for that individual, nearly guaranteeing optimal results when treatment is completed.

Meet the Head Therapist

Lina Pepper received her Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Northwood University in West Palm, Florida and has a Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Argosy University in Sarasota, Florida. She is a Board Certified Hypnotist receiving this credential from the National Guild of Hypnotists and is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, certified by the International Association of Trauma Professionals. Mrs. Pepper began her career treating psychological trauma while providing crisis intervention to victims of violent crimes, sexual assault, and domestic abuse. Witnessing first-hand how the impact of trauma leads individuals to addiction, she became determined and fervent to treat the core issues at an addiction treatment level to help minimize the impact of trauma in their lives. As a result of Mrs. Pepper’s training and experience, she came to the profound understanding that only one trauma therapy modality will not reach all individuals requiring this kind of care. In order to reach as many individuals as possible, Lina received training in a number of modalities which includes Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT), Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psycho-education, Psycho-dynamic Theory and practice, Trauma-Informed Care Approach and exposure therapy. In preparation for the future and to ensure her capability of assisting as many clients as possible in her career, Mrs. Pepper has recently been certified in treating Trauma- Related Disorders due to the Covid-19 Pandemic from the Cognitive Behavioral Institute in Florida. Mrs. Pepper’s tenacity to aid clients in overcoming trauma far exceeds her client’s expectations and the lives they rightfully deserve to lead thereafter.
