Opioid Rehab for Queens Residents
Opioid Epidemic
The opioid epidemic began to take hold of America in the late 1990s. Although it was general knowledge in the medical community that opioid use could lead to addiction, various pharmaceutical companies played this addiction down, which, in turn, led to an increase in doctors prescribing these potentially dangerous medications.

History of Opioid Addiction
You may be surprised to know that opioids have been in existence for thousands of years in some way, shape, or form. Sadly, it’s only in the past few decades that the extreme addiction qualities of opioids have come to light, leading to the opioid epidemic’s development.

How to Detox from Opioids
Unfortunately, detoxing from opioids is not an easy feat. Within a few hours of the last time you consumed your opioid of choice, your brain and body will begin to crave more. If you do not take another opioid, your body will start the process of physical withdrawal. Although it’s nearly impossible to narrow down precisely what you will feel when you begin to withdraw, typical examples of withdrawal symptoms include an increase in anxiety, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and nausea.
Due to the unknown severity of your symptoms, it’s never advisable that you attempt to withdraw from opioids if you are not under the care of a trained and experienced medical professional.
What Is Opioid Rehab Like?

Whether you decide to enroll in our inpatient or outpatient program, you will still participate in the same therapy forms. Group therapy, individual counseling, family therapy, and behavioral therapy are all examples of counseling that play an essential role in your overall recovery. Our group therapy sessions closely follow the 12-step meeting model, which will ultimately help you adjust to going to these types of meetings once you return home. It’s essential that you not only participate during therapy but also listen to what your counselor or other group attendees have to say. Undoubtedly, there words and insight will help you in your own recovery.
How Long Does Rehab Last?
The length of time you stay at our treatment facility is a personal decision, and it is one that you should consider carefully. We recommend that before you finalize your choice, you take the opportunity to speak with one of our counselors to discuss your options. Our programs last anywhere between 30, 60, or 90-days. If you opt to start a 30-day program, you can always extend your treatment at any time.
