What is Rehab Like For Philadelphia Residents? (Alcohol & Drugs)

What Do You Do During Rehab?

Rehabilitation treatment programs are intended for individuals struggling with mild to severe substance abuse problems. At Legacy Healing Center in South Florida, we offer holistic treatment programs that can include behavioral therapy, coping skills, the treatment of co-occurring disorders, and genetic addictions. Deciding to enter rehab can be difficult, but it is necessary when individuals have become dependent on substances.

We believe in treating each unique individual, and because of that, not every experience is alike. The first step that can be expected is to meet with a case manager who will work with the client and their family to collect all information needed to prepare the client for initial evaluations, payment plans, and treatment options.

Each client who enters one of our treatment centers will be given a personalized treatment program to fit their unique situation. At the beginning, each individual will undergo an initial evaluation that will assess the client as a whole, looking at their addiction, family history, and substance abuse history.

After completing the initial evaluation, a preliminary treatment plan will be put into place, and then the client will begin their medical detox. The medical detox is one of the most challenging parts of treatment because it is when the client goes through medically-assisted withdrawal, which allows the body to rid itself of the substance. Withdrawal can range in levels of severity depending on the addiction, and oftentimes, the symptoms felt can be severe, which is why medications are administered to help reduce and ease the symptoms.

Once clients have successfully completed their medical detox, they can begin to work on healing. Clients will be given an individualized treatment plan that will work on different types of therapies, such as behavioral therapy. When our clients work through behavioral therapy, they can get to the root of the addiction and find ways to make changes.

Our licensed and experienced therapists will work with each client using our different therapy; cognitive, process, psycho-dynamic, dialectical, motivation enhancement, and solution-focused. All of our treatments are holistic, giving our clients the ability to look at the different areas of their life that can be improved and enhanced in recovery.

What Does the Average Day Look Like While in Rehab?

Clients are given the opportunity to select different treatment lengths, depending on the type of addiction and its severity. While attending one of our residential rehab programs, our clients will have a mapped out day that will give them routine and accountability.

A typical day in on one our treatment centers will look like:

– Wake up in your private or shared room, depending on your choice
– Have breakfast with all meals prepared by in-house chefs with quality ingredients
– Participate in therapy and other holistic healing programs, depending on the individualized treatment plan
– Have healthy lunch prepared by an in-house chef
– Afternoon therapy programs, depending on the individualized treatment plan
– After programs have ended for the day, dinner will be served
– Return to the room for the evening

There will be time in the weekly schedule for excursions and other activities to keep clients engaged and busy throughout their treatment. We want our clients to heal, but also learn about new hobbies and activities in the process.

What Type of Therapy Happens at Rehab?

Each client in our hands will attend different types of therapy programs at Legacy. We emphasize our behavioral therapy, and it comes in three forms; group, family, and one-on-one.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is in a group setting with other clients also in treatment. This type of treatment offers various benefits for patients, allowing them to learn from others, share insight, and understand what others are going through. During group therapy, it is a commonplace to share, and sharing is vital because a patient’s recovery can be strengthened through the shared goal of long-term recovery.

One-on-One Therapy

This type of treatment is an individual therapy session between the patient and the doctor. It is private and therapeutic, giving individuals space where more sensitive parts of their lives can be explored and healed.

Family Therapy

Family therapy is not a standard treatment program at most rehabilitation centers, and at Legacy Healing Center, we emphasize healing the individual and the family together. When someone suffers from an addiction, the family is often severely hurt. While the individual struggling with substance abuse is receiving the treatment they need, the family and individual can work together in therapy to mend the wounds.
