What Is Rehab Like For New York City Residents

What Do You Do During Rehab?

If you are struggling with an addiction to drugs or alcohol, you are undoubtedly feeling a multitude of emotions. You may feel embarrassed by the fact that your addiction is not something you can turn off. You may feel shame by the fact that your dependence has negatively impacted certain aspects of your life. Finally, you may feel hopeless as if there is no way out of what feels like a black hole.

Before you consider a treatment plan, you should contemplate first going through our detox program if you are still in active addiction. This program provides you with the opportunity to remove the physical influence of drugs or alcohol safely before you begin treatment. It is never advisable that you attempt to detox without the care of a trained professional, so we strongly encourage you to take advantage of it.

What Does The Average Day Look Like While In Rehab?

Your day at our facility will depend significantly on the type of program you opt to take part in. If you decide to enroll in our inpatient program, you will eat, sleep, and participate in different therapy forms. We strive to provide you with a consistent routine and structure, critical in the first few days and weeks of your recovery.

Regardless of whether you decide to participate in our outpatient program or our inpatient program, we offer you the flexibility to pick the duration of your program, which can usually range anywhere between 30 to 90 days.

What Type of Therapy Happens at Rehab?

We realize that addiction affects everyone differently, which is why we offer a wide range of therapy options. While we do provide the traditional group and one-on-one therapy, we also work with you to develop coping skills that will benefit you once you return home. Also, it is not uncommon for a mental health issue to play a role in addiction, so we also offer behavioral health therapy. If you are also struggling with a mental health issue, we can adjust your recovery plan to include treatment, which gives you the best possibility at long-term recovery.

Group Therapy

Our group therapy sessions are conducted in a similar way to a 12-step meeting. One of our counselors will lead the meeting to a specific topic that you and your fellow group attendees will have the chance to listen to others’ experiences and share their thoughts. Group therapy is an excellent way to build up a support base which will become invaluable once you leave our facility. It is also a great way to understand that you are likely not alone in the things you are thinking and feeling when it comes to addiction.

One-on-One Therapy

We realize that you may not always feel comfortable discussing the various aspects of your addiction in a group setting which is why individual, or one on one therapy, will also be a critical aspect of your overall recovery. During these therapy sessions, you will meet with one of our counselors to discuss how you feel about your improvement and address any of your concerns. Of course, if you need to talk to one of our counselors before your scheduled time, we will do everything that we can to accommodate you.
