Drug Rehab Centers for Long Island Residents
Sadly, there is a common misconception associated with treatment centers that cater to a person who has an addiction to drugs. Many people believe a treatment center is almost akin to a jail or a hospital lock-down unit. While it is true that facilities may look like this, that is not the case when it comes to Legacy. We pride ourselves on providing our clients with bright and open spaces where they can feel at ease while they begin to work on their recovery.
Our staff always works to provide you with the feeling that you are coming to a home away from home when you walk through the doors at our facility in South Florida. We make ourselves readily available to address any of your concerns to ensure that you stay focused during your treatment.
Alcohol Rehab Centers for Long Island Residents
Although every addiction should be taken seriously, an addiction to alcohol can be hard to overcome. Our society is inundated with television shows or commercials that have some reference to drinking. If you are driving down the highway, you may notice a large billboard that displays an ad of a person happily sipping their drink of choice. However, if you have never struggled with alcohol addiction, those seemingly simple images can trigger drinking.
Call Legacy Healing Center 24/7 to speak with an intake specialist. Calls are completely confidential.
By coming to our treatment center in South Florida, you commit yourself to take a new approach when it comes to your thoughts associated with alcohol. Our staff will provide you with the tools you need to not give into temptation when you see a friend or a person on TV take a drink.
Addiction Treatment Centers Near Me
With years of experience in the addiction industry, our team realizes we need to provide our clients with several options when it comes to formulating a treatment plan. Although your individual program will be fine-tuned according to your needs, each program tends to fall into specific categories.
For clients who realize they need assistance in overcoming the addiction but do not have the flexibility to come to our campus every day, our outpatient program is ideal. Our outpatient program, also referred to as OP, includes at least one hour of therapy per week and participating in a 12-step program and over activities to help in your recovery. Our counselors will coordinate with you to ensure that the time you come to Legacy fits perfectly into your schedule.
If a client has more flexibility in their schedule, we recommend enrolling in our intensive outpatient program, also known as IOP. When you participate in this program, you will spend at least nine hours during the week at our facility. During this time, you will interact with our staff and other clients during group therapy and activities to reinforce your growing sobriety.
When possible, we strongly encourage you to participate in our partial hospitalization program, commonly known as our inpatient program. This program allows you to eat, sleep, and participate in treatment on our campus for a set amount of day. Inpatient treatment completely removes you from any temptation for 30, 60, or 90-days so that you can focus on your recovery and allow the lessons that you are learning during treatment to sink in.
Another essential form of treatment that we offer at Legacy is directed toward the family of a client. It’s not uncommon for the entire family of a person suffering from addiction to struggle with some of the ramifications that addiction can cause. If you find that your relationship with individual family members has suffered from your addiction, we can help you arrange for a family therapy session. During this meeting, you can speak with your family members about your recovery and openly express their thoughts, feelings, or concerns. It is a neutral way to meet with your family and open communication lines that are important when it comes to rebuilding a relationship.
How Much Does Rehab Cost?
One of the leading questions we receive from potential clients revolves around the issue of cost. First and foremost, you should always keep in mind that when you come to Legacy, you are investing in yourself. Instead of putting money toward feeding your addiction, you are finally putting yourself first in a healthy way. Each client participates in their own tailored program, making the cost of care unique to each person.

Our facility does work with a majority of private insurance companies, which can help offset Legacy’s cost. However, if you do not have private insurance, we will do everything we can to work out a payment to still receive treatment. When you call to speak to one of our intake specialists, be sure to mention whether you have insurance, and need assistance in putting together a payment plan.
How Does Drug Detox Work?
It’s important not to overlook the critical role that drug detox plays on your overall recovery. There is a physical and a psychological component that is associated with addiction. Within hours of the last time you consumed your drug of choice, your body will begin to physically react to your system’s lack of substance. For example, if you are addicted to short-acting opioids such as prescription painkillers, you can expect to experience withdrawal symptoms within 8-to-24 hours. Conversely, the withdrawal symptoms associated with longer-acting opioids such as methadone may take between two and four days to manifest.
It’s hard to predict the exact moment you will begin to feel withdrawal symptoms and what kind of physical consequences will occur during detox. For example, some clients complain of an extreme headache or become very nauseous during this time. However, there is always the possibility that you may suffer from severe withdrawal symptoms that can lead to serious physical harm or even death. This is why we always caution our clients to go through our drug detox program if they are still in active addiction before beginning their treatment plan.
How Does Alcohol Detox Work?
In many ways, detoxing from alcohol can be just as severe as withdrawing from any drug. Like drug detox, you will begin to feel physical and emotional withdrawal symptoms within a few hours of the last time you took a drink. In many cases, these symptoms include high blood pressure, nausea, and increased anxiety. However, in more severe cases, there is the possibility of a person experiencing a seizure or delirium tremens.
Call Legacy Healing Center 24/7 to speak with an intake specialist. Calls are completely confidential.
The safest and best way to withdraw from alcohol is to go through the Legacy detox program. Our team monitors your vitals around the clock to ensure no physical harm comes to you during this critical transition. More often than not, clients will begin to feel better within a week when they came to detox. At that point, you can start to transition into working your way through your treatment plan.
How Long Is Rehab?
As addiction and recovery experts, we understand that there can never be a “one size fits all” approach to achieving sobriety, so we offer treatment plans that vary in length. Remember, you did not develop your addiction overnight, so it will take more than just a few days, weeks, and even months to feel confident in your newfound sobriety.
Clients that realize they need to attend a treatment program but are hesitant to commit to anything long term are the perfect candidates for our 30 or 60-day treatment plan. This option helps you to take the initial steps you need toward overall recovery. We will provide you with a safe and relaxing environment where you can focus on what you need to do work on yourself and begin to experience life as a sober individual.
When possible, we recommend that our clients take advantage of our 90-day long-term treatment program. This treatment plan gives you the best possible chance to establish and maintain your sobriety. You will still participate in various therapy and activities that a person in a 30 or 60-day program would. However, you give yourself an extended period to heal from addiction in every way possible.
Does My Insurance Have Coverage for Rehab?
In the past few years, insurance companies have finally recognized that addiction is a severe disease that countless people deal with daily. Today, many of the leading insurance companies offer some coverage for addiction treatment care. While your insurance may cover your entire treatment plan at Legacy, there is often red tape you need to cut through beforehand. For example, there may be a time that you need to wait to begin a program at Legacy if you recently attended treatment at another facility. In other cases, an insurance company may cover the cost of care. However, they will not provide coverage for a detox program.
Call Legacy Healing Center 24/7 to speak with an intake specialist. Calls are completely confidential.
If you have private insurance, be sure to mention that to our intake specialists when you initially reach out to us. They will go into more detail with you regarding your coverage and determine if there is a way we can help get you covered for treatment through your insurance provider.

Here are a few of our top suggestions for places to visit:
Connetquot River State Park Preserve
Long Island is home to some of the most scenic state parks in the northeast. One of the most popular state parks in the area is the Connetquot River State Park Preserve. If you enjoy taking a long walk at the end of a stressful day or looking to find a place that will provide you with relatively calm, this park is an ideal choice. The preserve is filled with nearly 50 miles of trails that you can use to hike or go horseback riding. During the cold months, these trails double as cross-country ski trails. The park is open every day of the week except for Monday from sun up to sundown.
You can visit Connetquot River State Pak Preserve at Sunrise Highway/Route 27, Oakdale, New York 11769.
Oheka Castle
Oheka Castle is a stunning example of 20th-century architecture. Financier Otto Kahn originally built the castle in 1919 and primarily used the property for summer events. Since Kahn’s death, the castle’s ownership has changed hands numerous times and almost fell into complete disrepair. However, in 1984 the castle was restored entirely with part of it serving as a hotel and event venue. There are guided tours of the property available by reservation throughout the year. Regardless of when you visit, be sure to bring your appetite and enjoy a lovely meal at the property’s restaurant. This restaurant does serve alcohol, however, so try to go there with a sober friend.
Oheka Castle is located at 135 West Gate Drive, Huntington, New York 11743.
Deep Hollow Ranch
If you enjoy horseback riding, make sure to visit the Deep Hollow Ranch. Visitors to the ranch can opt to take part in horseback rides that wind along either a beach or a hiking trail. If you plan an adventure for a group of friends or your family, you can arrange for a private group tour. To ensure there is availability for the day, and you have the time you need, a good recommendation is to call ahead and schedule a ride.
You can visit Deep Hollow Ranch at 8 Old Montauk Highway, Montauk, New York 11954.
Sands Point Preserve Conservancy
Sands Point Preserve Conservancy is home to an abundance of outdoor recreational activities. Visitors can opt to walk around the expansive grounds or take a hike on numerous trails. If you happen to visit this location with children, you can plan to let them play on the Woodland playground or bring a picnic with you for an afternoon snack or lunch. Sands Point Preserve is pet friendly, so you can get your dog with you and enjoy a relaxing day outside. The preserve is closed on Mondays and Tuesday but generally open during the rest of the week between 11 AM and 6 PM unless you are a member. In that case, you can enter the grounds at 9 AM.
Sands Point Preserve Conservancy is located at 127 Middle Neck Road, Sands Point, New York 11050.
Long Island Aquarium and Exhibition Center
One of the most popular places to visit in New York is the Long Island Aquarium and Exhibition Center. This unique venue is home to over 100 different exhibits, as well as a 120,00-gallon shark tank. A favorite attraction among guests is the touch tanks and the African penguins, which usually make any person laugh or smile. When you are done exploring the aquarium, don’t forget to walk through the tropical and North American butterfly garden. The aquarium is open seven days a week between 10 AM and 4 PM.
You can visit the Long Island Aquarium and Exhibition Center at 431 E. Main Street, Riverhead, New York 11901.
Long Island Children’s Museum
If you plan on traveling in and around Long Island with little ones, you should add the Long Island Children’s Museum on your list of places to visit. This museum was specifically designed as a place where children of all ages could touch and interact with the different exhibits scattered throughout the building. There are at least 14 various exhibits at this venue, as well as a live theater. Depending on the day you go, there may be educational programs or events that will help you explore their inner creativity. The museum is usually open seven days a week between 10 AM and 5 PM. To avoid any delay in enjoying this site, it’s suggested that you purchase tickets ahead of time.
The Long Island Children’s Museum is located at 11 Davis Avenue, Garden City, New York 11530.
