Cherry Hill Therapy for Addiction

New Jersey Addiction Therapy Services

Legacy Healing Center locations offer various addiction and psychotherapy services to ensure that we can help people in all stages of addiction and recovery. When treatment options are limited, the client’s chances of success are, as well. With that said, drug treatment plans vary greatly depending on the individual’s needs, what they’re addicted to, the state of their mental health, and more. Offered as part of our level of care is our Cherry Hill therapy for addiction which addresses the behavioral and psychological effects of substance abuse. Keep reading to learn how these programs could help you or a loved one.

We offer both individual and group therapy for substance abuse to help clients understand the roots of their disorders, particularly the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that have contributed to their drug or alcohol use. Utilizing psychotherapy for addiction recovery addresses the aftermath of drug use outside of physical symptoms – which are treated in medical detox. Below are the various types of psychotherapy for addiction we offer at our Cherry Hill rehab center to help our patients learn how to live sober lifestyles.

Psychodynamic Therapy

We offer branches of psychodynamic therapy that facilitate a deeper understanding of one’s emotions and other cognitive processes. A major factor in recovering from addiction is understanding the motivation behind drug-taking behaviors. Psychodynamic therapy works to help people better understand how they feel, think, and behave and how these factors relate to their disorders.

Rapid Resolution Therapy

Another one of the several addiction therapy models used at our facility is rapid resolution therapy (RRT), which is designed to help patients overcome the ongoing effects of traumatic experiences. RRT uses techniques such as guided imagery, hypnosis, and stories to help clients resolve troubling thoughts, emotions, and behaviors related to their addictions.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming

Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) was developed in the 1970s at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Key elements of NLP are modeling, action, and effective communication. This therapy is centered on the belief that if an individual can understand how another person accomplished a task, this process can be copied and communicated to others so they can accomplish their goals, as well.

Trauma Therapy

Otherwise referred to as trauma-focused therapy, trauma therapy is another form of psychodynamic therapy that emphasizes the need to understand trauma’s impact on one’s mental, behavioral, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. Trauma therapy helps clients understand the link between trauma and their behavioral and emotional responses in everyday situations. This program also focuses on teaching clients how to cope with reminders, flashbacks, and other effects of trauma appropriately.

Family Therapy for Addiction

In addition to our client-specific psychodynamic therapy for addiction, our Cherry Hill rehab also offers support for families of addicts via our family program. We understand that spouses, siblings, and parents are always caught in the crossfires of their loved one’s addiction. To cope, these members may adopt certain roles, causing their relationships with the addict and each other to falter. Having strong relationships and a strong support system in recovery is important, which is why our facility offers family therapy services.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a form of psychological treatment that’s been used to treat various disorders, including mental health and substance use disorders. CBT utilizes efforts to change behavioral patterns, such as facing one’s fears, using role-playing to prepare for stressful situations, and learning to calm one’s mind and body. The goal of CBT is to teach patients to be their own therapists by helping them understand their current thought and behavior patterns and equipping them with the tools to change negative patterns.

12-Step Facilitation Therapy

Legacy Healing Center Cherry Hill also offers twelve-step facilitation therapy as part of our addiction treatment programs. The 12-step method is a common rehab program that was created by Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and has since been adapted to treat all forms of substance use disorders. There was even a new group called Narcotics Anonymous (NA) to help people with opioid addictions get sober.

These 12-step programs understand that substance abuse can have physical, emotional, social, and spiritual consequences, which must all be addressed for the person to reach sobriety. These programs begin with acceptance, then move to surrender to a higher power, then eventually transition to group meetings where clients can continue receiving guidance and support from their peers.

Brain Paint & Vibroacoustic Therapy

Brain paint therapy or brain painting is a form of neurofeedback therapy that’s designed to improve brain functioning without using a brain map. In other words, this is a non-invasive therapy where sensors are attached to the patient’s scalp. They then answer a series of questions, allowing them to detect their brain’s response to certain stimuli or questions. This allows patients to see which areas of the brain aren’t working properly, giving them an idea of what behaviors they might have to change to address these areas.

Vibroacoustic therapy, or VAT, is a deep tissue low-frequency sound massage that transfers audio waves in the range of 30Hz-120 Hz through embedded transducers in the bed that clients lay on. These sound waves gently penetrate cells in the body, massaging them from the inside out. Because the body is made up of about 60% of water, the sound is transmitted and vibrated through this water to produce a relaxing effect.
