Opioid Rehab for Charlotte Residents

Opioid Epidemic

The 1990s saw the beginning of what is commonly referred to today as the opioid epidemic. Although doctors were previously leery of prescribing opioids in certain situations, pharmaceutical companies announced in the late 1990s that there was very little chance that patients would become addicted to opioids if a practitioner prescribed them in higher doses. Less than 30 years later, the opioid epidemic was deemed a public health emergency by the United States Department of Health and Human Services.

Today, the professionals at Legacy Healing Center in South Florida look to assist clients with the fallout associated with the opioid epidemic. We understand the stress and chaos that opioid addiction can cause on a person’s life and family. Our team works personally with each client to develop their treatment plan to combat opioid addiction.

History of Opioid Addiction

Opioids originally made its way to the United States in the late 1700s. Although this drug’s addictive nature was not fully known at the time, there were severe apprehensions about prescribing opioids in the mid-1900s. Unfortunately, opioids were also a leading moneymaker for pharmaceutical companies, which led these entities to push and suggest to doctors that it was completely fine to prescribe the drug.

How to Detox from Opioids

Detoxing from opioids is something you should never try to attempt by yourself. The consequences of the physical withdrawal symptoms that set in within a few hours are physically and emotionally uncomfortable. Additionally, they could potentially be deadly. For example, in severe cases, a person may experience a seizure that could quickly present serious health consequences.

If you are still struggling with active addiction, we recommend that you let one of our intake specialists know when your initial call is. They can discuss with you your options for attending our detox program. Going through this form of treatment ensures that your vitals remain monitored around the clock, so you are not put in a position of potential physical harm.

What Opioid Rehab Is Like

When you come to Legacy for treatment, you will take part in different types of counseling, including group, individual, behavior, and family therapy. Your day will be structured based on whether you enroll in our inpatient or outpatient treatment plan. Clients that participate in inpatient treatment will remain at our facility for a set number of days while our outpatient clients will come to Legacy on certain days and at specific times.

We strive to provide you with a calming and relaxing environment where you can truly focus on developing a better understanding of what you need to do to remain sober and what may have led you toward addiction in the first place. Remember, our intake specialists can always provide you with a more detailed explanation of each program, so you feel comfortable with your decision.

How Long Does Rehab Last?

Your treatment program’s duration is a decision that you should always make with a member of our team. For example, many clients opt to take advantage of our 30-day program, while others capitalize on our full 90-day program. Regardless of the duration of your plan, you will still experience different forms of therapy and activities that will help you to work through your addiction.
